In Matthew 14, Jesus sends His disciples ahead while He retreats to pray, and amidst the chaos of a storm, He approaches them, "walking on the sea" (Matthew 14:24-25). The storm may be fierce, but it does not dictate the situation; Jesus does. When the disciples see Him, fear tries to mislabel His presence, yet Jesus responds with reassurance: “Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid” (Matthew 14:27). Peter’s story feels so close to our own. He steps out because Jesus speaks, “Come” (Matthew 14:29). He is not…
